Spanish Cedar, (Cedrela odorata)
Hogan Architectural Hardwoods has been known as the Spanish Cedar Leader since 1994 when we began importing it in for exterior use, primarily window, door and shutter. It has a light brown to red color and finishes well with stain or clear coat. The grain resembles that of Magogany, but at a value. Over the years, Spanish Cedar has become a favorite of architects for its weather resistant properties and beautiful finish. The material is hard, moderate in weight, easily worked, and perfect for gluing. Hogan’s Architectural Spanish Cedar is among finest in the world! Extremely durable, this wood ranges from a pale pinkish brown to a dark reddish brown that darkens over time. Natural characteristics include tiny pin knots, gum pockets, and a unique fragrance. Excellent choice for exterior doors due to natural resistance to rot and decay, the natural oils in this wood are an effective insect repellent. Paints, stains and finishes well.
